Adventure Cook Islands - Scuba diving in Rarotonga and hire
Adventure Cook Islands Dive Centre and Rental Specialist
The SSI Advanced Adventurer is the next program after you Open Water Diver certification. If you want to gain confidence as a diver, further develop your dive skills and explore new dive sites, this is the right course for you!
The program is not only for newly certified divers, but also for experienced divers.
The SSI Advanced Adventurer is equivalent to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. Equally, you will be introduced to 5 different diving specialties. During the course you will find out which specialty program interests you most.
The course is a fun way to continue your dive training. In addition, the program is designed to maximize your in-water time and is a great way to get more dives under your belt while learning new skills. If you cannot decide which specialty courses interest you, the SSI Adventure Diver is the right program for you.
Once you find out which dive activity interests you, you can always complete the full specialty course any time in the future. In addition, you can credit your Advanced Adventurer training towards the specialty course.
The course consists of five dives in different diving activities. Each dive has a short theory session that needs to be completed online prior to the dive.
You will complete dives from the following list :
A typical course will include the following dives: Navigation, Deep, Boat, Perfect Buoyancy, Wreck. In case you have special requests for dives, we will try to accommodate these. In either case, dive options are always dependent on sea conditions.
Course Prerequisites
To enroll in our SSI Advanced Adventurer course you need to be fit and healthy and hold a SSI Open Water Diver certification (or the equivalent from another recognized training organization such as PADI, NAUI, CMAS, SDI and NZUA…). Minimum age requirement is 10 years for “Junior Advanced Adventurer” certification and 15 years for “Advanced Adventurer” certification
Medical Requirements
You will have to fill out a questionnaire about your medical history at the beginning of each SSI dive course. If you answer any of the questions on the medical form with YES, you will have to get a medical clearance from a doctor prior to any inwater training. If you are unsure about whether you have a medical condition that is incompatible with scuba diving, you can view and download the full RSTC Medical Questionnaire here.
