Adventure Cook Islands SSI Specialty Dive Courses

At Adventure Cook Islands we offer a large selection of SSI Specialty courses in Rarotonga. We offer specialty programs for divers and non-divers alike. All specialty courses include online studying through SSI elearning.

With SSI you also get free recognition award based not only on your dive certifications, but also on the number of dives you do.

SSI Advanced Open Water Diver recognition

SSI Specialty Diver

Once you have completed 2 specialty programs and 12 dives, you will receive the SSI Specialty Diver rating.

SSI Advanced Open Water Diver

If you have completed 4 SSI specialty courses and a total of 24 dives, you will earn the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver rating.

SSI Master Diver rating

SSI Master Diver

Once you have completed 4 SSI specialty programs, Diver Stress and Rescue and have completed 50 dives, you will earn the prestigious SSI Master Diver rating. The SSI Master Diver is one of the highest recreational diver ratings.

Big selection of specialty courses

The majority of our SSI diving specialties include two open water dives. Additionally, we have specialty programs that include three open water dives and/ or confined water sessions, like the Deep Diving or Stress and Rescue programs.

Furthermore we offer a selection of SSI Specialty Courses that do not require you to get wet, like the Equipment Specialist or Science of Diving.
Furthermore we also offer a broad range of very interesting and educational marine ecology and identification courses for non-divers and divers alike.

Some of the non-diving specialty courses require practical workshops, others do not. Non-diving specialties are a great way to continue your diver training without having to get into the water. For instance, you may live far away from the nearest water. Or maybe it is just too cold during the winter months to go diving. Of course, during Covid-19 times, diving is not possible in many region in the world.

SSI Specialty Non-Diving Courses

By enrolling in our SSI Specialty non-diving courses you will gain new knowledge and get a new SSI Specialty certifications without having to be in Rarotonga. These courses are for divers and non-divers. To enrol in these programs, you do not require any diving certification.

There are two categories of SSI non-diving specialty courses: Ecology Programs and Equipment and Diving Science Programs.

Our Ecology programs are educational courses for young and old, no matter if you have a special interest in diving or not. As long as you are interested in the ocean and its marine life, you will find courses that suit your interest here. We offer the following SSI Ecology programs:

Our Equipment and Diving Science courses are primarily for divers, but not exclusively. As long as you have a genuine interest in scuba diving, these courses should benefit you.

SSI Deep Diving course in Rarotonga
Deep Diving

In this course you will be taught how to safely conduct deep dives up to a maximum depth of 40 metres. You will plan your dives using gas consumption calculations and use dive computers during the dives.

SSI Waves, Tides and Currents Specialty course in Rarotonga
Waves, Tides and Currents

In this course you will practice diving in current or surge, which can be exciting yet challenging at the same time. You will get a deeper understanding of diving in dynamic environment and at the same time enhance your dive skills.

Diver Stress and Rescue
